Lottie

Hi, I’m Lottie, a book-loving former English teacher who now tutors part time. At Shelfaware, I spend my days designing and crafting thoughtful book-themed gifts inspired by the stories I adore. My hope is that each piece brings a little more joy and magic to your reading ritual.

Hello and welcome- Lottie here :)

Whether you're a fellow female business owner building your brand or a wax melt lover looking for fresh content inspiration, I’m so glad you’re here. Running a small business means constantly finding creative ways to connect with your audience, and I’m here to help with that.

If you’re a book lover, be sure to check out my collection of bookish quote wax melts and accessories. They’re perfect for cosy reading moments, bookish gifts, or adding a literary touch to your space. Feel free to explore my socials @beshelfaware to see how I promote my products.

Now, let’s dive into 30 content ideas for a wax melt business that can help you engage your audience, showcase your products, and grow your presence.

1. Behind-the-Scenes Look at Wax Melt Process

Show how your wax melt creations are made, from pouring to packaging, to give your audience a behind-the-scenes look. Be authentic, be you. Show when things go wrong, celebrate your wins. I find it so useful to film B- roll throughout the day. Get as much as you can and chop it up later and use for several things. You can get so many different pieces of content from a day's worth of filming. Don't feel like you have to use it all straight away. From one day's worth of B roll you could get: print my orders with me, pack orders, computer admin, show off new packaging, asmr videos, making the products, taking inventory etc. All these things ARE content.

2. Wax Melt Care Tips

Share how to properly use and care for your wax melts for the best experience. From storage to usage- you are the expert. Give your opinions, challenge ideas you don't agree with, show how you look after your own as a fellow wax melt lover. Give your audience facts and make instructional content.

3. Scent of the Month Feature

Highlight a special scent each month and share the story behind it. Why did you name it that? Why did you choose this scent? What does it remind you of? What have customers said about it?

4. Customer Reviews and Testimonials

Post positive feedback from your customers, ideally with photos of them using the wax melts. Create a community! You work hard to provide a great service, show it off and celebrate your wins.

5. Wax Melt Fun Facts or Myths

Share interesting facts or debunk common myths about wax melts. For example, explain the difference between paraffin wax and soy wax or clear up misconceptions about how long wax melts last or how to store them. This educational content can help inform your audience while also sparking curiosity!

6. Seasonal Wax Melt Collections

Create a collection of scents that align with the seasons or holidays, like autumn or Christmas-themed melts and do a talky reel all about them to share your passion. Talking to the camera is daunting at first. The best advice I can give is throw yourself in (IT'S OKAY TO BLOCK FRIENDS AND FAMILY) if this helps you get started. You deserve to talk about your products and you have to hype them up, if you're not, who is?

7. Wax Melt Unboxing

Show off the excitement of receiving a wax melt box or a delivery for your business. New stickers arrived? New scents? Do you offer a subscription service? You can film unboxing videos or photos of each month’s box, highlighting the scents included, special packaging, or any surprise extras. This can help generate interest to give your followers a sneak peek of what they can expect to build excitement.

8. Scented Candle vs. Wax Melts

Educate your audience on the benefits of using wax melts over traditional candles. The list is endless, you know your stuff, get to it!

9. Customer Photos

Ask your customers to share their favourite places to use your wax melts to create a collage reel. Capcut offer amazing templates to help you with this. This content is great because it takes a few minutes to put it all together and can be re-used.

10. Create a Relaxing Ambiance with Wax Melts

Show how to use your melts for different occasions like a cosy night in or a spa-like experience. Show your customer what your products can do for them. Live the experience you are selling. I do Shelfscape Fridays for example where I film myself styling my shelf and choosing a wax melt to accompany and match what I am reading that week. Let's say I'm reading Elsie Silver. I will film myself taking a book off my shelf with my Cowboy Romance Genre divider, I will film myself putting my cowboy romance wax melt bar out on display, explain why I've chosen it and how the scent will complement my reading experience, and then I film myself reading. This is showing my audience how to use my product and what they can expect from purchasing.

11. Wax Melt Safety Tips

Educate your customers on the safe use of wax melts. Why not do a this vs that for oil burners and wax melts to explain the important differences?

12. Wax Melt Subscription Box

Offer a subscription service and feature each month's selection in your content.

13. DIY Wax Melt Gift Ideas

Create tutorials on how to gift your wax melts — perfect for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions. How do you package them so that your customer can send the perfect gift? Do you offer gift wrapping? Personal messages? Film yourself packing a special order and explaining what the process is.

14. Scent Testing Polls

Engage your audience by letting them vote on new scents they’d like to see in your shop. This is a great way to engage your audience. People love to give their views and not only does this help with engagement, it's market research for you! What do YOUR customers want?

15. Wax Melt Burn Time Tips

Educate your audience on how to make their wax melts last longer. From storage to in the well of the burner, what is best?

16. A Day In The Life

Film yourself on a typical day and talk your audience through what you do and why. This is a great way to show who you are and what your business is all about and will help your customers connect with the person behind the brand.

17. Wax Melts for Stress Relief

Showcase calming scents that promote relaxation and stress relief.

18. Highlight Special Ingredients

Talk about the special ingredients you use in your wax melts, like natural wax or essential oils. Why are yours better? Talk your customers through your thought process.

19. Create A Reel About What Owning A Small Business Is Like

Show the realities! This is authentic and fun and gives your audience an idea of what your brand is and who YOU are. The highs, the lows. From walking your dog to wiping down the surfaces, it's content. Find what works for you, try and keep your videos similar so your audience can start to recognise them and instantly know what sort of content they are getting. Don't forget that people love to nosy!

20. Exclusive Limited Edition Scents

Introduce limited-time scents and build anticipation around them.

21. How to Reuse Wax Melt Containers

Show creative ways to reuse the containers your wax melts come in, encouraging sustainability.

22. Behind the Brand Story

Share the story of how you started your wax melt business, your inspiration, and your values. Show your journey so far! Not only is this great for your customers to see, it's a lovely thing for you to look back on.

23. How to Create a Wax Melt Station at Home

Offer advice on setting up a work space at home to make wax melts for fellow creators. How did you do it? What was your budget? What sacrifices were made?

24. Wholesale

Create a day in the life reel of you going to visit your wholesale locations and stocking the shelves. This is different (and it gets you out of the house!)

25. Wax Melt Product Launches

Announce new products or restocks with a special reveal post or video.

26. Eco-Friendly Practices

27. Share Your Favourite Scents

Create personal content where you share your own favourite scents and why you love them. Why do your customers need to try this scent?

28. Wax Melt Scent of the Week Challenge

Create a weekly challenge where you encourage your followers to try a specific wax melt scent and share their experiences. You can ask them to describe the mood it creates or how they incorporate it into their daily routine. Feature the best posts on your social media to foster community engagement and spark excitement around different scents each week. You could create a hashtag to help you see what people have posted.

29. Interactive Q&A Sessions

Host live Q&A sessions to answer customer questions about your products, wax melts, or scent-making process.

30. Wax Melt Gift Guide

Create a gift guide for different occasions — birthdays, holidays, or for the "person who has everything."

In a growing and competitive wax melt market, standing out comes down to consistency, creativity, and authenticity- just be you! :) So take these ideas, make them your own, and start creating content that reflects the heart of your business...and leaves a lasting impression.
